Yesterday I posted an announcement for PlanetWebSphere.net. What I didn’t mention is I thought about the idea the night before, lost a lot of sleep and woke up at 5:30am and cranked it out.
This is a good example for the previous blog post from Ben. Using Drupal and some basic plugins I was able to get this site up and running very quickly. The hardest part was getting the colors right along with the WebSphere globe icon. Drupal is truly an amazing CMS (Content Management System) and is extremely flexible and configurable. I actually spent more time disabling most features than creating the actual site. Hopefully over time I can make it as good as PlanetLotus – which I think Yancy has done an amazing job with.
Although being low in weight page load times are very slow here (see http://tools.pingdom.com/?url=http://www.planetwebsphere.net&treeview=0&column=objectID&order=1&type=0&save=true ) with 10 seconds for the homepage. As normally Drupal sites perform quite well I hope you can tweak it a bit.

Yeah it is pathetic. I am looking into a lot of different caching techniques with Drupal. We will see how it pans out. Thanks for the comment!
