Expeditor and Portlet Container

One very cool feature of the soon to be generally available Expeditor product is the local web services and portlet container. You got it, a JSR168 portlet container is included with the new product. This means you can have your portlets bundled as Eclipse plugins and run them on the local machine. The screen shot below shows how I displayed two cooperative portlets (portlets which are declaratively wired together) in the Expeditor platform (the window on the top) and connected to the exact same portlet using the operating system browser. Since the container is basically just a controlled local “server” you can connect to localhost and display your portlets or JSP’s.

I am sure you can imagine the different things that can be done with this technology, especially along the lines of debugging and re-using portlet code.
